The scenario is that you normally deliver Route 5 on MWF, but because of a holiday you want to deliver on Thursday next week. The goal is for Route 5 to show up "pink" (short-handed) on that specific Thursday on the Help Wanted and staff's Daily/Weekly schedules, so you can recruit a volunteer to fill it. But you don't want signups on other Thursdays.

It's now possible to activate a single shift on a normally inactive day of the week, without changing the Job Settings. Here's the recipe:

1. Go the Job Detail page for Route 5, by clicking the Job name from one of the schedules or from Job Settings
2. On the Job Calendar you'll see the inactive days are gray. Click the magnifying glass icon 🔍 in the gray slot you'd like to activate, this will bring you to the Shift Detail page
3. On the Shift Detail page, click the blue "Activate Shift" button next to the Status field

That's it. Now this shift is Active with status "open", and it will show up on the Daily and Weekly schedules, and also on the Help Wanted page under the usual conditions -- i.e. it's in the future, short-handed (assignments < required workers for at least one position), and the Job's "Visibility" is set to public.
